With Greenshot users can take screenshots of desktop. It supports to capture the entire desktop (full screen), a window (for example current working application) or a custom selected area from desktop screen. Is one of the most popular alternative for Snagit and is developed as open source.

Once you have grabbed the image, you can easily save it, open in image editor, copy to clipboard, print it directly, send it by email, open with MS Paint or upload it to Dropbox.

This application allows to edit image with an internal editor and can perform various actions such as add annotations, different types of arrows and shapes.

Can highlight or hide/cut desired parts of the image, useful for presentations or tutorials.
